You are a marketers dream.
You watch what you eat, you feel pretty confident in your awareness of nutrition, you’re super busy and looking for some easy, healthy, grab-and-go foods. Talk about setting them up for success.
All they have to do is tell you what you want to hear. They call it a healthy name or label it “skinny” and we flock to it like it’ will save our lives.
Don’t do it. It’s not worth it.
Often those foods are higher in sugars and/or fats or they substitute them out for non-healthy alternatives that are lower calorie or no calories at all, for instance, splenda. But, are any of those ingredients healthy? Not usually.
Listen, all we want you to do is consider our one rule – if you don’t know what’s in it, don’t eat it. If they wont tell you or don’t have nutritional information available it’s probably not a good sign for your health, or your waistline.
But don’t fret! We wont give you information like this without providing you a quick to make, easy to take recipe for your on-the-go needs (we get it, we’re busy too
)!
what you will need:
2C old-fashioned rolled oats
1C quick cooking oats
2 tsp cinnamon
1/3C cold-pressed canola oil
2T ground flaxseed
1/4C maple syrup
1/4C honey
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
directions:
Mix dry ingredients together in a medium bowl. Combine wet ingredients in a medium pot and heat on low-med until it starts to bubble a little. Turn off heat and stir in dry ingredients until well combined. Spray an 8×8 glass dish with EVOO and press mixture evenly into dish. Refrigerate for at least an hour, preferably longer to help it hold together.
Serves 12!

Hmm…I might try adding some peanut butter, walnuts or chopped, dried fruit. They sound wonderful and easy to make.
